Looks like hospital food, at least at some hospitals, might start to shake it’s notoriously bad reputation for being tasteless and nutritionless! Some hospitals across the nation are now offering organic food offerings, as well as leaner and healthier options than traditional junkie hospital food.

Oregon already has several hospitals that have gone organic, but that’s no shock sine Oregon is notoriously organic friendly, as is a lot of other western and pacific northwestern states are. I really hope this organic health trend continues in the nation’s hospitals, where health is supposed to be reinstated in people.

It never made sense to me that hospital menu’s were overcooked, bland and nutritionally void foods like pizza, hot dogs and other traditional American “crap” fare. Some of the hospitals have hired chefs from restaraunts or just trained their kitchen staff to cook organic meals.

Now, patients can snack on fresh fruits and vegetables instead of being relegated to snacking on processed foods with high sodium, sugar and fat contents. They are actually eating foods that promote health and well being, not aiding in robbing them of the very thing they’re come to the hospital to restore.

This is a truly promising sign. But, I must admit that I believe that some hospitals will even be able to ruin organic food!

Remember that organic food must be cooked and prepared in a healthy way, too. For instance, if organic veggies are overcooked — and in margarine, to boot — their value will be seriously impaired. This is just one example. I’m sure you can think of others.

There, you will find a link to an interview I conducted on my website with nutritionist, Dr. Elizabeth Lipski. We discussed hospital food at length. And part of the discussion was devoted to the fact that 2000 hospitals will now be serving organic food!

I was so glad to find your website/magazine. Keep up the good work!

The link to the interview with nutritionist Dr. Liz Lipski was broken in my comment.

    I’m trying this again.
