Some of the interesting scientific discoveries and developments over the past few years have been nothing short of fascinating. The one I’m about to discuss definitely fits into that fascinating category, since it has to do with the isolation of one of our bodies immune defenses called interleukin, and how it may improve the memory when the spray formulated with this immune system molecule is sprayed into the nasal cavity, just like a nasal spray for allergies at night.
The test subjects were men, and it was found that when they were sprayed with this spray, they remembered consistently more information than the men who were treated with a placebo spray. The amount they remembered was pretty significant, which means that this product worked to helped these men retain their memories from the day before “cramming” for their test the day after.
The theory is that the interleukin somehow improves the REM sleep cycle, which is where the mind organizes and sorts the memories from the day before, making them stand out the next day. In other words, this spray dramatically improves memory and information retention, which could have huge implications for treatments for memory conditions, and may be just a sort of enhancement product for those that simply want to improve their retention of memories.
There is no information yet on what, if any, side effects their might be. I would venture to say there may be some though.
The catch is that the spray needs to be followed with a good night’s rest in order to be effective since it works its magic during the REM sleep cycle, which is the most deep part of the sleep cycle that can be easily cut short if there are any interruptions or poor sleep quality. This REM cycle is by far the most important part of your good night’s sleep, and when it is interrupted a lot of does not occur because you sleep too lightly, this can result in some serious brain function issues.
