Detoxing Your Body

There are a number of ways that we can, as they say, “detoxify” our bodies. There are supplements we can take, things like herbal colon cleansing products and acidophilus supplements, there are diets we can go on, and there are totally liquid diets as well.

Heck, there are even foot pads you can wear that will supposedly detoxify your body, but those largely have been proven to be a bunch of hooey pretty much (at least I’m convinced).

No matter which way you choose to detoxify, know that it does take time, and that your body may actually go through a period where you feel worse, not better, before you actually cleanse all that bad stuff out and start on the road to a cleaner, renewed sense of energy and cleanliness.

Juice diets are popular. These are usually diets where you primarily live on nothing but juiced whole fruits and vegetables.  You are supposed to be able to absorb the nutrients, vitamins and minerals that these whole foods offer a lot better when they are juiced, because you essentially are bypassing the part of the digestion process where your  body needs to break things down into a liquid.

When you detox this way, it is always recommended that you use ONLY fresh, organic fruits and veggies. If you use veggies and fruits that have pesticides on them and other chemicals, you are defeating the whole purpose of detoxifying your body from these types of common toxins.

Also, make sure you drink only purified water.  This way, you are eliminating as many chemicals, toxins, preservatives, pesticides and other potentially body harming substances and giving your body a clean slate to start from.

No matter which way you choose to detoxify, it’s important that you listen to your body.  If you really feel terrible for a few weeks, then perhaps this is not agreeing with you and you should try a different avenue, and just clean up your diet.
