Review : JASON Tea Tree Melaleuca Deodorant
I’ve been a converted natural deodorant user for about 4 years now. I decided that I didn’t want to be putting toxic chemicals on my underarms, like aluminum and propylene glycol, both of which have been linked to various forms of cancer.
Not to mention, when you are using most commercial deodorants on your underarms, you are putting toxic chemicals in an area where there are a cluster of lymph nodes, which can carry those toxins all throughout your body in a very efficient way, which is even scarier.
So, I’ve been using natural deodorants, trying various ones here and there for several years. They work just as well as commercial ones, but they take a while for your body to adjust to. I swear that I “stink” less since I’ve been using them a while now, whereas they didn’t seem to control my underarm odor as well when I first started using them.
Probably because my body was so used to more potent chemicals fending off the odor, but that’s just my theory. The most recent natural deodorant I’ve tried which I’m going to review for you today is the JASON brand of Tea Tree Melaleuca deodorant.
It is a solid deodorant stick that you rub on your underarms. It contains tea tree oil, which is a very well known anti bacterial agent found on trees grown mostly in Australia. Tea tree oil helps control odor by controlling bacteria growth. For this reason, it is also an excellent addition to natural skin care products for acne as well.
The smell of this deodorant is distinct and somewhat medicinal, which some people may not like. Tea tree oil in itself has a very pungent odor, which some people love and some people don’t. I’m ok with it, but my husband hates it. He also said that it didn’t protect him from odor all day long.
This deodorant works well for deodorizing. However, I did notice that at the end of the day its effect seemed to wear off, like it stopped working as strongly as it had before. I’m still a natural deodorant user – I like to try different ones to see how effective they are.
