Vitamins, Supplements and Your Brain Power
Does taking vitamins and other various supplements such as the legendary ginkgo biloba and other supplements like omega 3 dietary supplements and other herbal supplements that improve concentration really help your memory in any way?
Well, a new research study that was commissioned in Frances suggests that those who have been taking vitamins and supplements for years tend to do better on memory tests. They used the experience period of ten years to determine how long the subjects had been taking supplements and vitamins, and went from there.
Of course, they pointed out that with studies like this, you never truly know whether the outcome is because of certain personality characteristics that these people possess have more to do with the outcome than the actual variable you are studying.
It fits that people who take supplements and vitamins probably take better care of themselves as well, right? So, maybe that, coupled with the fact that they take vitamins and supplements, has more to do with their better memory performance on tests than the actual nutrient benefits they are gaining with supplementation.
Of course, this is neither here nor there because whatever behavior it is, these types of people tend to behave in ways the promote long term health and better memory, so you’d be wise to take these memory and focus improving supplements as well.
One thing is for sure, many supplements cannot hurt you, pretty much they can only help you. You just have to be careful of the ones that can reach a saturation point in the body and become toxic, and those supplements are usually pretty well labeled with these types of warnings, or they are well publicized.
Vitamins that are fat soluble, rather than water soluble for instance, are vitamins that you absolutely do not want to exceed the recommended daily dosage on, for instance. A vitamin that would fit this criteria as an example would be vitamin E.
But other supplements such as vitamin C, B vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids, and more are very hard to take “too much” of. One would almost have to be an obsessive compulsive to take too much of some of these.
Improving concentration is vital to one’s success and focus in life. Why not improve what you have and take supplements to enhance your natural abilities?
