What are the Right Doses of Vitamin D for Cancer Prevention?
There is a lot of debate over how many IU’s (International Units to take of Vitamin D3, which is the best form of the vitamin for cancer prevention, and the same form that our body produces when we are exposed to the sunlight.
The debate rages pretty much between the standard medical establishment (by that I mean western medicine doctors, and traditional medicine in general) on whether too many IU’s can be dangerous or even toxic to the human body.
There are recommendations as high as 10,000 IU’s by some non traditional practitioners and alternative health specialists, in addition to even some western medicine specialists, while others say that this is way too high and can be toxic.
However, the current US RDA recommendations are way too low in my opinion, which is about 600 to 800 IU’s. I myself and my husband take 4,000 IU’s per day and I can tell you, we’ve had no bad side effects, and I think we could take even more if we needed to or if I decide that the recommendation for the higher amount it correct.
What I can tell you is that since we have been taking this amount of Vitamin D3, which is about a year, neither of us has gotten so much as a cold or any type of the flu. It’s strange, because I’m almost waiting to get sick at least once. But, when I even start to feel a tiny bit of a scratchy throat or fatigued, it goes away as fast as it came.
I suspect this has a lot to do with my supplementation of vitamin D3 at 4,000 IU’s. You see, not only is it hugely beneficial against many different kinds of cancer, but it also really beefs up your immune system.
We take the Carlson brand, which is a softgel. I know that if you take it in a fatty oil base, it’s better because it is more easily absorbed into the body. I suspect that the recommendations to stay away from high amounts of vitamin D is manufactured as a scare tactic, and I’ll never listen to it as I know the huge benefit myself and my husband have gained just in a greatly boosted immune function over the past few years.
If anyone has comments on their own Vitamin D regimen, please comment here, I’d love to hear them and to share with the rest of our readers. I also think that combining Vitamin D with a really good omega 3 dietary supplement is a great combination to help with a variety of health issues. I will ALWAYS take both vitamins as they are both hugely beneficial.
